Benefits

Community Choice, which allows cities and counties to purchase electricity for residents and businesses within their boundaries, will promote economic development and greater energy reliability by purchasing power from new power generation projects in the region.

Residents and businesses within participating communities will benefit from partnering with the Kings River Conservation District (KRCD) as the Community Choice energy supplier. KRCD has over 20 years of power generation experience and a nonprofit status. Participants will be able to take advantage of the Community Choice benefits once the program comes online including:

• Cost savings and stable, predictable rates for customers;
• Increased generation reliability in the central San Joaquin Valley;
• Regional empowerment to make decisions and plan for our future regarding energy issues that affect businesses and residents;
• Customer choice to participate in a regional energy program; and
• Value added to the region through the development of new, local renewable energy projects (solar, wind, biomass, small hydro, etc.).
